At just 19 years old, Obed's journey has been defined by determination, self-learning, and an unwavering belief that technology can change lives. Coming from Ghana, he faced challenges that could have easily discouraged him, including financial obstacles that affected his educational path. Instead of allowing those difficulties to define his future, he chose to define it himself.
Without expensive resources, a large team, or outside funding, Obed taught himself web development and began turning ideas into reality. He spent countless hours learning, building, failing, improving, and trying again. Every challenge became a lesson. Every setback became motivation.
That persistence eventually led to the creation of AfriWidget — a platform built with a simple but powerful purpose: to provide free, accessible, and practical digital tools for everyday tasks, productivity, and calculations. From simple converters to smart educational and financial utilities, AfriWidget was created to solve real problems and make technology useful for everyone, everywhere.
For Obed, AfriWidget is more than just a website. It is proof that talent and drive exist everywhere, regardless of background. 2. The Client-Side Zero-Storage Architecture
Traditional web applications transmit your form submissions across the internet to backend databases. AfriWidget is engineered deliberately differently:
When you enter numbers, grades, or text into any AfriWidget tool, JavaScript code executes locally inside your browser's memory without sending payloads to our server.
We require no email registration, usernames, passwords, phone numbers, or credit cards. There is no account profile tracking your tool usage history.
Closing your browser tab or refreshing the page immediately purges all input state from your device's memory. We maintain zero database records of your computations.
3. Domain-Specific Privacy Breakdown
To demonstrate our commitment to transparency, here is how each specific category of tools on AfriWidget handles your inputs:
🎓 Education & Academic Calculators (WAEC, JAMB, KUCCPS, ZIMSEC, APS, GPA)
Your candidate grades, subject selections, target university courses, JAMB UTME scores, credit unit weights, and semester GPA inputs are calculated entirely in-memory. We never collect student names, index numbers, transcripts, or institutional IDs.
💰 Financial & Business Math (Loans, Mortgages, Compound Interest, VAT, Freelance)
All principal loan amounts, annual percentage rates, mortgage payment schedules, freelance hourly rates, and profit margin formulas are evaluated using deterministic client-side mathematics. No banking details, income records, or credit scores are ever requested or stored.
🏥 Health & Wellness Tools (BMI, BMR, TDEE, Calorie Deficit, Water Intake, Ovulation)
Body metrics including weight, height, age, biological sex, activity factor, and menstrual cycle dates remain strictly on your local device. We are not a medical provider and we never construct biometric profiles or sell health telemetry to third-party brokers.
⚡ Productivity & Utilities (PDF Invoices, QR Codes, JSON Formatter, Text Tools)
Invoice generation and QR Code encoding use in-browser Canvas and client-side vector libraries. When you generate an invoice PDF or QR image, the file is rendered directly on your device and saved to your local downloads folder without uploading files to our servers.
4. AI Features & Stateless Ephemeral Proxy
Certain educational and financial tools offer optional AI-powered guidance (e.g. course admission advice, budgeting recommendations) powered by Groq / LLaMA acceleration.
When you explicitly click an AI action button:
- Only the anonymous calculated numerical parameters (e.g. “WASSCE Aggregate: 14, Target: Computer Science”) are transmitted via an encrypted HTTPS connection to our stateless Netlify function proxy.
- No Personal Identifiers (PII) such as names, phone numbers, or IP addresses are passed to the AI inference engine.
- The request is processed ephemerally in real-time, the response text is returned to your browser screen, and the payload is immediately discarded. No prompt history or user log is stored.
5. Cookies & Third-Party Advertising Disclosures
AfriWidget is committed to remaining 100% free forever for all African and global users without imposing paywalls or subscriptions. To support server infrastructure and continuous development, we display non-intrusive advertisements served by Google AdSense.

6. Web Analytics & Infrastructure Security Logs
To understand aggregate platform traffic patterns, diagnose technical faults, and protect against distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, limited non-identifying telemetry is collected:
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4): Collects anonymized, aggregated metrics (e.g. browser type, operating system, page views, session duration) with IP masking active. This data cannot be reverse-engineered to identify individual human users.
- Hosting & CDN Server Logs (Netlify / Cloudflare): Standard web server access logs recording timestamp, HTTP request method, user-agent header, and generic origin routing. These logs are maintained temporarily solely for cybersecurity forensics and traffic routing.
- Contact Form Communications: If you voluntarily reach out via our contact page, your name, email address, and message are used solely to reply to your inquiry. We never sell, rent, or distribute your email address to marketing lists.

AfriWidget provides educational grading calculators widely utilized by secondary and high school students across Africa (such as BECE, WASSCE, KCSE, and O-Level candidates).
Because our calculators do not require registration, login credentials, names, birthdays, or locations, we do not collect or store personal identifiable information from children under 13 or minors of any age. If a parent or guardian believes a child has transmitted personal data through a contact inquiry, please reach out to us for immediate erasure.
